Reopening Safely in 2020-21

We are a big family of 3,100 students and 625 staff. Like you, we can’t wait to be together again, however, planning for school to start this year has thrown us some twists! La Vega ISD is making plans to open for the first day of school on August 13, 2020.

Starting Strong but Safely

The 2020-21 school year will begin with a TRANSITIONAL PHASE.

School will start in a virtual manner for the first three weeks (August 13 to September 7). Students will attend school remotely, getting to know their new teachers, readjusting to “school hours”, and learning to use our new learning management platform, Schoology. All students will have the advantage of a single learning platform, that allows them to interact during classes, actively engage in assignments, take quizzes, collaborate with peers, communicate with teachers, and much more. The phase-in of our return to school will also provide everyone TIME. Time to practice with new devices. Time to learn the new Schoology system. Time for staff to rehearse and finalize all safety and sanitation protocols before children enter the building.

CHOICE

Parents will have two learning options for their children: Face-to-Face or Remote learning. The Face-to-Face option will look different for children at grades PK-6 and 7-12. Parents must make the learning environment choice for each six-weeks period. Learning Environment choices are made during the following period.
