Each lesson is thoughtfully designed to align with state standards, ensuring that students are meeting the required learning objectives.
I am passionate about integrating Project-Based Learning (PBL) into my teaching practice. PBL empowers students to engage deeply with the curriculum by exploring real-world problems and challenges. Through these projects, students develop critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills, preparing them for success beyond the classroom.
We delve into diverse texts, fostering critical thinking and analytical skills through guided discussions and questioning techniques.
Group activities and peer reviews encourage students to learn from one another, promoting a deeper understanding of the material.
Students engage in the writing process, from brainstorming to publishing, developing their skills in narrative, informative, and argumentative writing.
Regular assessments inform instruction, allowing me to tailor lessons to meet the evolving needs of my students.
Through explicit instruction and contextual learning, students expand their academic vocabulary, which is essential for reading comprehension and effective communication.
I use a variety of question types to support student thinking and learning. Some questions are quick recall (DOK 1), while others ask students to explain ideas or make connections (DOK 2). I also regularly use DOK Level 3 & 4 questions, which encourage students to think critically, analyze evidence, and justify their reasoning. These deeper questions help build strong thinkers and lifelong learners!
