What are retakes?
In each class, students take one or two assessments for each learning target. Sometimes, additional assessments will be given to collect additional evidence.
Once students have completed their last required assessment for a learning target, a grade will be entered into the grade book under the final learning target grade, The final learning target grades are the only grades that impact students' academic grade.
Once you have your grade for a learning target, you can decide to attempt a retake assessment if you are not satisfied with your grade. Retake assessments are optional.
A retake is not the same assessment taken over. It is a different assessment that will test the same learning target knowledge.
To retake an assessment you MUST do all of the following things:
Complete any additional practice work you were assigned for a retake. Usually, it is called a "Relearning Assignment" Ask your teacher questions if anything is confusing!
Fix any mistakes you made on your last assessment. Write out your corrections on paper using a grading pen or send me a document with the corrections.
For math retakes, the date, time, and required work will be posted to Schoology.
Retakes are not usually given for open-note tests.
