Remember the class expectations! Be prepared and ready to learn!
Be ready with all materials at your desk before the bell rings.
You need to bring both your math and science materials to both math and science classes.
Please do not bring your backpack to class. The classroom is small and I do not want anyone to trip on backpacks. It’s for everyone’s safety! You may bring a tote bag if you would like.
Follow instructions on the board; it will usually be a warm up.
When I need your attention, I will give different cues for your attention.
I will try out some call and responses throughout the year. I am open to suggestions!
Please make sure you are silent when I or someone else is talking. Be respectful.
No use of Artificial Intelligence tools (such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, writing assistants, or similar programs) to create, rewrite, summarize, or complete any part of the assignment.
No assistance from other individuals, including classmates, friends, tutors, parents, guardians, or any other person, in creating or editing your work unless specified on the assignment.
No copying from online sources or using pre-written work from the internet or textbooks without proper citation, even if you “reword” it. That is plagiarism.
Assignments should reflect your own understanding, thinking, and effort. Asking for clarification, feedback, or help understanding instructions is always encouraged — however, the final product must be your original work.
Why this matters:
Our goal is for you to develop your own skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Using AI or outside help to do your work prevents you from learning, and it is considered academic dishonesty.
By submitting your work, you are confirming:
“I completed this assignment entirely on my own without help from AI tools, other people, or unapproved resources.”
Students are not allowed to use the internet, notes, etc. unless stated otherwise by the teacher. If a student copies anything from the internet or another person, that is plagiarism. There is no talking or working with other students. Additionally, there is no use of AI in any way unless given permission by the teacher. If a teacher sees that the student is talking during the test, the teacher will give the student a zero.
Coming to school is your job! Make sure to engage in conversation and participate as much as you can.
Please follow directions! Please listen!
This classroom is a safe space to allow you to participate freely. With that being said, be respectful of others’ participation.
Please have 2 sharpened pencils before the start of class.
If you need to sharpen your pencil, please do not sharpen during instruction or when someone is talking.
Don’t hesitate to ask me anything! I am here to support you and your learning.
Make sure to use the class sign language.
Please wait to be called on if you do have a question.
There are Chromebooks in the classroom for you to use. With that being said, they are shared amongst all my classes. Please make sure to be respectful of all learning materials, including the Chromebooks.
Please be respectful of your learning time. Computer and internet access are for classwork only.
Please wait for the teacher’s instructions before using the computer. When computers are not needed, please put them closed on your desk.
Please do not eat in class. Especially if you don't have enough for everyone!
No eating in Raymond Hall!
Water is the only drink allowed in my class to avoid mess.
If you spill water, please clean up after yourself.
Make sure you have all of your belongings.
Tidy up your area before you leave. If there is trash, even if it is not yours, please pick it up.
Don’t forget to push in your chairs. If you are in the last period of the day, please put up the chairs on the tables.
Students are not allowed to use the restroom for the first 15 minutes of class and the last 15 minutes of class. Passing period is to be used between classes to get supplies and use the restroom. Additionally, students should use their nutrition and lunch to use the restroom. Students are not allowed to leave the class without permission and without a hall pass.
Class Consequences:
I am lenient when it comes to class discipline, so please take warnings toward consequences seriously when I give them. I will only give a couple of verbal warnings before I contact home. Please note that Schoology comments can also serve as communication to parents/guardians. If this issue occurs, there will be a parent-teacher-student conference held.
While these are a lot to go over, there are still some that I may have missed. Bear with me if I explain how to do certain things that were not mentioned above. Please try and use common sense when thinking and behaving in class. I know you are all smart and capable of acting appropriately.
