Go to Schoology to see what we did in class and complete the assignments. If you are absent for one day, then you have one day to complete the assignments, if you are absent for three days, then you have three days to complete the assignments, and so on. It is your responsibility as the student to make sure you see what was done in class while you were gone.
Try to complete as many of the assignments as you can. You may also call your study buddies for an explanation or help with the assignment. EVERY student will exchange phone numbers/emails with several study buddies and store this information in a place where they can find it.
You are not excused from the work assigned when you are absent. Please do not ask me what you missed. Everything is on Schoology with the corresponding date. If you have clarifying questions, feel free to reach out to me.
Please be sure to check the folders to see what we covered each day. I post all of our daily activities there, so you can look back at the pages if you want a recap or need to catch up after an absence.
If you know you are going to miss an assessment, please let your teacher know. You MUST ask your teacher for an appointment to take a make-up assessment (unless we have discussed some other arrangement). Usually, you will take the missed assessment immediately upon your return from an absence.
***VERY IMPORTANT: It is YOUR responsibility to ask for assignments you missed when absent and/or to make up assessments. Failure to do this can result in you getting a ZERO on the missed assignment.
If you are dealing with bullying or other issues with peers and need an adult to help work through what's going on, let me know. If there are bigger issues going on, let me know. I’m always here to help you. Our school counselors are also here for you, and I can help you connect to them if you need some support.
If you're struggling in class, you can message me or come talk to me. It is okay if you are having a hard time or are frustrated. That’s part of the learning process! Please don’t give up! And NEVER worry about “looking dumb”. Successful students take risks, ask questions, and keep trying if something doesn’t make sense. I have told many people that you don’t have to be smart to get good grades or to be successful. Working hard can take you so far! Don’t be afraid to put yourself to work and struggle a little bit! Let me know if you need ANYTHING at all! I am here to support you and your learning!
