Lesson 4:
How do I use...?

Google Drive

Google Drive is a cloud storage platform. Think of this as a USB drive that is on the internet and you can access anywhere you have internet access without carrying a physical drive. Any document or file you create with a Google app gets automatically stored to your Google Drive.

To access your Google Drive, go to drive.google.com and sign in with your LAUSD email account.

Google Docs

Google Docs is a virtual word processor that allows you to create and store files on Google Drive. For more information on how to use all of the Google Doc Tools, please see the following Docs Cheat Sheet. To use Google Docs, go to docs.google.com and sign in with your LAUSD email account.

When creating a Google Doc, make sure you give your file a name by clicking on the top where it says "Untitled document." This will make it easier for you to find it whenever you need to or when you are submitting an assignment.

Lastly, unless your teacher tells you otherwise, make sure you include a header in the top left hand corner of your Google Doc that follows the following format:

Your First and Last Name
Course Name, Period
Date

Title (Always give your work a title)

Google Slides

Google Slides is a virtual presentation creator. (Google's version of PowerPoint.) For more information on how to use Google Slides, please see the following article: How to use Google Slides. To use Google Slides, go to slides.google.com and sign in with your LAUSD email account.

When creating a Google Slide, make sure you give your file a name by clicking on the top where it says "Untitled presentation." This will make it easier for you to find it whenever you need to or when you are submitting an assignment.

Lastly, the first slide of your presentation should be a title slide. To make sure that it is a title slide or change it to a title slide, click on "Layout" and select "Title slide," if it is not already selected. Type a title for your presentation where it states "Click to add title" and type YOUR name (and group member names) where it states "Click to add subtitle."
