What's up, everyone! The MG is back!

It has been a real long time before a post of the MG. For us writing this post, it was busy!

Virtual learning, work, future plants, etc., etc.

What have we been up to?

We have been doing many activities up to this point, all in which were successful in showing our essence of mental health.

School-Wide Presentation:

You guys probably remember the Mindful Gardeners' attempt to have a school-wide presentation. It is confirmed they are having it, and they are presenting this Friday, March 19th!

What are they doing to prepare? They created a new presentation, packed with much more information and details, with amazing imagery. So far, this copy of their presentation has come a long way from their first one, presented in this website on the tab of "Our Work." We will surely post it for you all to see!

Plant Distribution for Teachers:

The MG recognized the hard work of teachers from Griffith STEAM during distance learning. In an attempt to help the mental health of the people who most contribute to the community, the Mindful Gardeners did a plant distribution in front of Griffith on this past Friday, March 12th.

Care Packages for our teachers contained a succulent, a coloring book and coloring pencils to emphasize self-care. Along with this came a note for teachers, telling them ways to self-care, such as doing yoga, meditating, etc., and expressing their gratefulness for their amazing and excruciating work.

This event also accompanied with a lot of photos taken, including with Nathalie and Cristal, who attended and helped pass out the packages to our teachers! Of course, safely, and with social distancing in practice.

Presentation to Griffith Teachers:

Last Monday, March 8th, the MG gave a successful presentation to Griffith teachers about mental health. We created a presentation specifically for teachers, and were met with a lot of thanks, and, plaudits! We have reached one of the most honorable and hardworking people in the school! We were glad to know that many of them had the power of greenery in their lives!

We have less than three months 'till the end of the school year! But we will keep going strong and keeping reminding people to Water their plants, Water their minds! We still have a lot of people to reach, but we are going steadily and steadfastly!

Watch out for our next green havoc-wrecking update! Much love to all people in the community, the MG staff!

What's up, everyone! Mindful Gardeners Staff Writer with some good news!

After the Mindful Gardeners had written their emails to Ms. L. and Dr. V., (see update below) they received great responses almost immediately!

From Nathalie to Dr. V.

Jan 12, 2021, 6:51 PM

Hello Nathalie.

I love the idea. Why don't we schedule a meeting to discuss the particulars with Ms. Mariano, Ms. Corado-Barrios and Mr. Estoesta. Because mental health is such an important and sensitive subject, it is important that we collaborate on this presentation.

Let's discuss a date for the event at the end of tomorrow's Student Advisory Board meeting.

Till then!

Unfortunately, Nathalie wasn't able to attend her SAB meetings lately because of other school commitments, and hasn't been able to respond. But she knows it will be soon.

"Since I have many school commitments, it can get tough and busy," she asserted. "But I was more than excited, stoked, to get a response back. Who knows what is the next page in the book for us [Mindful Gardeners]."

Nathalie has a response ready for Dr. Verbera, in which she will discuss with the rest of the MG.

So far, all is good.

This is one of many steps to get to their huge and final goal. How will this turn out? Will something interfere? Or will this be as sweet as a song?

So far, there is no new information. But, don't feel down, Plantsmen and Women! Good news is sure to come!

Until the next update, from The Mindful Gardeners Staff!

Expansion Plans? Elementary Schools?? Community Presentations???

The Mindful Gardeners have struck once again!

What have they been up to?

After ambitions of expanding to their communities, the Mindful Gardeners have finally achieved this!

On January 12, the Mindful Gardeners had their usual Tuesday afternoon meeting.

But, it would differ greatly from past meetings.

The Mindful Gardeners made a preliminary plan of giving presentations to elementary schools, holding a school-wide presentation, and even giving presentations to the LA Country Library, one of the closest libraries to Griffith MS and the country supervisor Hilda Solis!

Of course, this was briefly discussed during previous meetings, but never was it more official and prone to happening!

In this meeting, the girls and the group's supervisors, Ms. A and M, had discussed of all this possible events they can hold. But, before this, they would need the consent of their school principal, Dr. V.

So, two members of the Mindful Gardeners, Nathalie and Evelyn, took charge of writing emails. Nathalie to the principal about expanding to elementary schools and holding their own school-wide assembly, and Evelyn to the school librarian, Ms. L. to find out if she had any ties to the LA Country Library.

What will be the responses? Will this go as planned for the Mindful Gardeners?

Stay tuned for more, Plantsmen and Women, to find out more!

Partnering with the Mindful Gardeners?!?

The Mindful Gardeners have finally partnered with a great little plant shop situated in LA!

How?! When?! Why?!

The MG decided that it was time to go up a higher level, to partner with a plant organization or shop that would help them make their plant giving mission possible.

After pondering options, the MG decided to partner with a plant shop, Latinx with Plants. One of their supervisors, Ms. M., went over to the little plant shop to discuss the possible partnership on January 5th.

Yes? No? Would she like to partner with the unique Mindful Gardeners???

Luckily, yes! Latinx with Plants' owner, a young woman, agreed to partner with them to accompany and help them with their mission with plants!

Operation Water Your Plants, Water Your Mind was a go!

How will the mission proceed? What new doors will it open? Will it be a success?

All Plantsmen and Women, stay tuned for our next update! The MG are excited to see how this will turn out!
