Instructional Planning
Instructional Planning
Curriculum implementation is change management and one lever to support this change is instructional planning. When school leaders support teacher teams through instructional planning, it can help propel teacher use of the curriculum, promote collaboration, and advance their practice forward. Below are several tools and resources to support math departments during different phases of instruction.
Before Lesson
To teach IM well and with confidence, you will need to uncover and internalize the story of each unit and lesson yourself. The following tools and protocols can deepen discussion around long term pacing, unit planning, and lesson facilitation and provide opportunity for peer feedback before teaching with students.
During Lesson
The following resources are offered to support the logistics and structuring for the different types of observations that typically occur throughout the school year.
After Lesson
Implementing a new curriculum is a change management journey for school communities, and successful change requires regular reflection and adjustment to plans in response to implementation data. Offered below are tools and protocols that can support teacher teams with reflective practice and data driven instruction.
