STUDENT PRIVACY POLICY
FULTON COLLEGE PREP LIBRARY 2023
PROTECTION OF STUDENT INFORMATION
Fulton College Prep Library has an ethical responsibility to maintain student privacy and we protect student records on checkouts and overdue notices in the following manner:
Student checkout records are private. Only students can access their library checkout information through Schoology. Parents will need to defer to their student’s account information as the library does not share checkout information.
Overdue notices are mailed to the student’s school email address directly.
FERPEA
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.
AMERICAN DISABILITIES ACT (ADA)
Fulton College Prep Library provides an inclusive environment through specialized programming for students in Special Day Classes Special Events such as Autism Awareness Day, art inclusion activities, and read-aloud programming. Collaboration with the Special Education Department includes recommended services, events, and collection development. Inclusion for students with disabilities is guided by the policy guidelines of the American Library Association; B.9.3.2 Library Services for People with Disabilities.
CHALLENGE PROCESS FOR DIGITAL AND PRINT MATERIAL
Fulton College Prep Library follows the guidelines in its Collection Development Policy, Selection and Review Policy for School Library Materials BUL-145510 which outlines the Procedures For Challenges to Library Materials.
Students at Fulton College Prep have full access to all digital and printed materials. When students have missing library books on their record, they may receive an accommodation to continue to check out library materials upon making agreements to return lost materials. Students are encouraged to make their own selections based on their own preferences.
COLLECTION UPDATE AND EQUITY
Fulton College Prep strives to incorporate 21st-century learning and perspectives into its already dynamic collection. We take recommendations from students, teachers, departments, administrations, and community members on library programming and collection development. We will continue to collaborate with our stakeholders to create the dynamic collection our students deserve.
