LIBRARY UPDATE
COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT POLICY
FULTON COLLEGE PREP LIBRARY 2023
School Libraries are the backbone of the education of our citizens. Literacy is the cornerstone of a democratic society, and libraries are the catalyst for the dissemination of information. Additionally, libraries are a depository of diversified ideas, concepts, perspectives, and points of view. A complete library houses various bodies of research, literature, poetry, plays, musicals, multiple perspectives from various cultures, science, philosophies, psychology, and mathematics.
Fullerton College Prep Library continuously strives to update its collection to meet 21st-century standards. As Fulton's Teacher Librarian, we steward the development of the skills to access the library collection by teaching digital literacy skills, research skills, how to navigate the school catalog, and how to find books of interest in the book stacks. Our mission is to assist teachers and support the students in actualizing their research projects. We seek the input of community members in the development of the Fulton Library collection.

CHALLENGED MATERIALS POLICY AND PROCEDURES

As a courtesy, please consult our teacher librarian prior to leaving any donated books at the library.

Donated materials must be copyrighted within the last five (5) years (unless a classic title).
Print reference materials, including atlases, encyclopedias, subject-specific multi-volume sets, and other non-fiction resources will not be accepted.
All materials should have a reading level and an interest level of Pre-K through 12th grade.
