BTEC Ext Cert in Performing Arts

Qualification aims and objectives

The course is equivalent in size to one A Level. There are four units of which three are mandatory and two are externally assessed.

The Extended Certificate is for learners who are interested in learning about the performing arts sector alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses, not necessarily in Performing Arts.

It is designed to be taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate BTEC Nationals or IB Diploma Courses. Learners will investigate the work of performing arts practitioners, develop critical analysis skills and contextual understanding of how practitioners communicate themes in their work.

Learners will explore technical performance skills with a focus on developing and demonstrating skills and techniques in at least two performance styles within a selected discipline.
