Message from the Principal

Christmas card made by Lissandro, 8C

Well, 2020 will definitely be a year that none of us are likely to forget in a hurry! There have been a number of notable events which have already shaped the world we live in today, and will continue to do so for years to come. The coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic has dominated everyone’s lives this year, and as a community we have not been unaffected. As we approach the holiday season, our thoughts are particularly with those LAB families who have lost loved ones this year.

I am always proud to see members of our community working together, especially when they display the LAB values through the work they undertake. Resilience is something that our students have developed this academic year, and praise should go out to all of our year 9 and our year 8 students, who have spent some time working remotely during module 2. We find ourselves in challenging times and despite being physically distanced, the collaborative and supportive culture at LAB continues to provide academic and pastoral support for all our students, whether they are on or off site.

Despite the constraints of ‘bubble life’, and the limitations placed on events where the whole academy can come together, I am sure you will agree from reading this edition of LAB News that it has been yet another busy module at school.

We hope that you are all able to enjoy the holiday season ahead, and we wish you the very best of festive wishes. Please do stay safe and healthy and we look forward to seeing students return for module 3 in 2021.

Seasons greetings,

E Smith
