Airy

Module 2

As we come to the end of our second module, Airy staff and students should feel proud of the wonderful start they have made to the new Academic year. Students have settled into the new building and know COVID safe routes really well, demonstrating all of the LAB values. However, particular praise should be given to all for Resilience, for the high levels of attendance across Airy college (with an average attendance of 94%), which is significantly above national average.

This module has been full of exciting opportunities to raise awareness and funds for charities and special causes, and we have encouraged our students to demonstrate empathy and kindness in doing so. Please see our fundraising tab for further details of how Airy staff and students have raised awareness, funds and clothing to support the homeless this winter (in conjunction with the national charity, Crisis, and local charity, Woolwich Service User Project (WSUP), in their respective bids to end homelessness).

Airy Student Celebrations

Airy Stars and Student of the Week

Last module we started a new initiative to celebrate and recognize students in Airy college that have gone above and beyond each week. Students who have consistently demonstrated the LAB values of Ambition, Integrity, Resilience, Scholarship and Respect are celebrated and recognised by our college community. Each week, Airy tutors have been nominating a member of their tutor group who deserves recognition. The wider Airy college team have then voted for the winning student.

Each student has received additional LAB Ambassador merits. All students nominated receive appreciations in virtual assemblies , with the reasons they have been nominated also shared. The winning student receives a phone call home and is awarded a certificate and a student of the week badge that we are encouraging students to wear on their blazers!

Below are the list of students this module that have been nominated each week, and the overall winner on each occasion.

Airy Celebration Breakfast

At the end of each module, we also have the opportunity to invite students to attend our Airy Celebration Breakfast. Students are invited for constantly displaying the LAB values and for collecting the highest amount of merits. The event falls on the last week of the module. Students that were invited in module 1 are celebrated below, as are those who will be rewarded for their efforts in module 2. The module 2 celebration were due to take place on 17th December. However, due to year 8 working from home in this last week, we have now moved this to Thursday 7th January to ensure we can all celebrate together.
