Presidents
Esteemed Delegates,
Here at LASMUN IV, we are eager to welcome you to the Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural
Committee (SOCHUM). We, Sofía M. León and Sarha D’amire, will be leading this honorable
committee and will strive for excellence, diplomacy, and impactful discussions. The topics
tackled will be of utmost relevance and urgency, demanding consistency, dedication, and a deep
commitment to humanitarian values.
This year, SOCHUM will challenge you to engage with complex humanitarian dilemmas,
advocate for human rights, and navigate the intricacies of international cooperation. We expect
nothing less than dedication, adaptability, and a willingness to step beyond your comfort zone to
reach well-rounded and impactful resolutions.
As Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "Where, after all, do universal human rights begin? In small
places, close to home—so close and so small that they cannot be seen on any maps of the world."
It is in committees like this one that future changemakers take their first steps toward shaping a
better world.
We look forward to seeing your passion, diplomacy, and innovation in action. Together, we will
make this SOCHUM session one to remember.
Sincerely,
Sofía M. León and Sarha D’amire,
SOCHUM presidents.
