LAPS engages in a spectrum of prevention activities that are provided by school staff and community partners with funding support from Los Alamos County. The aim of the program is to build resilience and prevent harm to children in the areas of substance use, tobacco and e-cig use, mental health challenges, truancy, bullying and other emerging risk behaviors.
Key Strategies –
Expand the LAPS Prevention Program K-12 with an emphasis on earlier education and cultivating social emotional learning and resilience as protective factors
Offer professional development to build staff capacity to support students recognizing that all staff play a role in prevention
Engage community members, organizations, and parents as partners
