Most colleges require entrance exams as part of the admissions process. These scores help determine:

Class placement
Scholarship opportunities
The two most common tests are the ACT and SAT. Students should prepare using practice tests, online resources, and TCA (our in-house test prep program).

The SAT includes:

Writing
All juniors take the SAT at school each spring.
Students must create an SAT account before testing to avoid delays in sending scores.

Visit the SAT website to view testing dates and sign up.
DO NOT register for the writing section unless required. Most colleges do not need it.
Send your scores for free to up to four colleges during registration.
Athletes: Send scores to NCAA (code 9999) or NAIA (code 9876).
Students are encouraged to prepare using free or reputable resources:

Students who qualify for free/reduced lunch may request a fee waiver.
Steps to request:
Complete the Household Income Form (if not already done)
Fill out the Counselor Request Form (outside the Guidance Office)
Place it in Mrs. Prices' mailbox
Waivers are available for juniors and seniors only

Students with a 504 Plan or IEP needing accommodations must:
Register for the ACT/SAT and indicate the need for accommodations
Then contact Mrs. Morgan Dickerson to upload documentation
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is used for military job placement or enlistment. Taking the test does not require you to enlist.
