LHS Set Up Leadership Academy Captains:
Hello everyone!
Hello everyone! We are your SET-UP Captains for the year: Sarah Quin, Amy Gardiner, Millie Gardiner. We’re thrilled to lead the way in making SET-UP more prominent throughout the school. Our goal is to enhance everyone’s school experience, ensuring that each day is as positive and productive as possible. We’re excited to work together to achieve this, and we can’t wait to make a difference!

We have participated in the Captains' Catch Up and helped to increase the awareness of Set Up throughout the school.
Our S1 pupils especially have had a chance to find out more about the Set Up room in E-block so they can get the items they need to be successful in school!
We have maintained the up-keep of the Set Up trolleys throughout the school all year, so everyone has had access to what they need.
To celebrate the holiday spirit while promoting sustainability, we spearheaded a school-wide Christmas Jumper Drive. We coordinated a collection point for pre-loved festive knitwear, encouraging families to donate gently used items to ensure every student had the opportunity to participate in 'Christmas Jumper Day' comfortably and affordably. This initiative not only supported our local community during the cost-of-living crisis but also reduced textile waste by championing a circular economy within the school.
We designed and managed a Reverse Advent Calendar initiative across all school departments, shifting the holiday focus toward community service. Rather than receiving a treat, each department was challenged to donate one high-priority item such as non-perishable food or essential toiletries every day leading up to the winter break. I oversaw the logistics of the daily collections and the final delivery to KLSB , resulting in a significant contribution that supported local families in need during the peak winter season.
In recognition of Challenge Poverty Week, we coordinated a school-wide donation drive to bolster our internal 'Fuel Stop' cupboards. I helped facilitate a collection of essential food items, snacks, and hygiene products, ensuring that students facing food insecurity have discreet and immediate access to nourishment throughout the school day. By integrating these donations into a permanent 'Fuel Stop' resource, we moved beyond one-off charity to create a sustainable support system that reduces the stigma around poverty and ensures no student is expected to learn on an empty stomach.
