Hi I am Jaelyn Garcia and I am a member of Girls build. Last year was really rough for all of us. Violence, politics, racism, and the pandemic. Because of everything that has happened to all of us it is important to stick together.Especially in these tough times. We need all the love an support we can get to make others and ourselves happy. Some of my hobbies are cooking, watching anime, (especially Naruto) and i would like to learn how to do sign language.Girl's build has made me a stronger and independent person. I am currently working on being more collaborative and able to have conversation to other people that I don't know.

Hello LAPCMS Girls Build Community
Something fun we did in Girls Build last year is codechella kits. I really liked it because there was different types of activities to do related to stem and the good thing about the kits was that every activity had easy instructions so we do not get stressed out. I enjoyed this more than the other activities because this session had hands on activities then the other session we have done before COVID-19. Another session i liked was the gingerbread house contest before we went to virtual learning. I also enjoyed this because we got random partners and that was good for us so we can talk and communicate with new people. Instead of being with the usual people we always pick our self.
I would say that I've adapted to distance learning good and the challenges from COVID-19. Since i live with 7 people in my house and all of them work all day except me and my sister stay home. But, i am used to it because i know how to cook, and clean so i help around the house. I also know how to work technology so as my sister so when ever my family members need help we help them. I have also noticed everyone who lives with me is getting adapted to the challenges at home because we have been communicating with each other which is good for us.

Hello LAPCMS Girls Build Community! I hope you are having a great day.
I have had many experiences and challenges despite my young age. One of those experiences was coming to this country and not knowing English, the truth was and continues to be very difficult but thanks to programs like Girls Build I have grown a lot and that fear of speaking has gone away since the program helps you to participate more and to be more sociable. Besides that the program has very nice and fun activities in which you can participate, they also teach you how to be a good leader in your life, your community and in front of anyone.
Despite the difficulties that have occurred in this time and because of all the challenges that covid-19 has given us, we always continue with our distance learning and meeting challenges. Thanks to my family, I have managed to get ahead with my studies.
I'm just starting Girls Build but in my opinion I have grown a lot as a person, as a student and as a leader. I think that I have also improved my English since most of the time I speak English with my classmates and teacher. I hope we continue with our learning and grow much more, both academically and mentally. I also hope to continue doing many activities at Girls Build.
I have many ideas to share with my group and to continue helping my community ... (we do what we can but we always go for more). One of those ideas or better said goals is to do something to avoid or try to avoid pollution in my community and my city since in that way I help the planet. Another thing is to try to share or expand new cultures by doing fun activities and challenges so that people get involved and also support the program.
