Primary Years Programme

Teaching and learning

Our academy curriculum

Our curriculum covers all of the requirements of the National Curriculum but is arranged around inquiries and further split out into six different transdisciplinary themes. Learning is tailored so that pupils can make authentic links between subject knowledge and skills.

Langley Park Primary Academy is an IB World School, authorised to deliver the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme. The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and a more peaceful world through intercultural understand and respect.

The Primary Years Programme encourages our pupils to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners.

What does teaching and learning look like in our classrooms?

Our pupils access the breath of learning that covers each subject of the National Curriculum. The learning is tailored so that the pupils can make authentic links between subject knowledge and skills.

Our year group teachers work closely together to ensure that both classes have access to the same learning experiences. Teachers then adapt the teaching and learning to meet the needs of the individual classroom.
