Primary Years Programme

Knowledge Harvest

As part of our provocation, we create a knowledge harvest at the start of each term. We do this to collate any prior understanding or knowledge from the children that can guide our planning as teachers. Some children may have a prior understanding or misconception of a concept that can be highlighted during our knowledge harvest. This knowledge harvest is run alongside the provocation to allow children to ask questions which we can then explore throughout the term.

The knowledge harvest is an important aspect for us when planning as we use this to analyse any gaps from prior learning as well as address some of the children's questions during our inquiry. The knowledge harvest can be shown in different ways such as a mindmap, google slide or Jamboard. In older years, children add to the jamboard throughout the term and may refer to this during their learning journey.
