Reception

Central idea: Great leaders influence our past, present and future

Line of inquiry 1: An inquiry into the roles in our society

This module we have been thinking about our local area and the different roles in our community. We used Google Earth to explore Edmett Way and Maidstone, which build upon our I.T skills and allowed us to think about the different roles people may have, including the adults in the school. To deepen our knowledge and understanding further, we went on a local area walk around Edmett Way, thinking about the jobs people have at Aldi, Costa and the other shops, and how they help us.

Line of inquiry 2: An inquiry into what makes a good leader

We have been working extra hard, developing our research skills to identify what makes a good leader. We started off by identifying some key leaders within our country, including King Charles and Rishi Sunak. We then deepened our understanding by researching their job roles, writing down key facts and thinking about how they are great leaders. We used dressing up and role play to support our learning, learning about London landmarks, and even pretending we were the Prime Minister and thinking about what we would change!

Line of inquiry 3: An exploration of great leaders in our world

For our final line of inquiry, we reflected on all the learning we had done so far, thinking about the different leaders and their job roles. Through doing so, it allowed us to gain a better understanding of the different leaders in our world and we were able to explore the different roles they had and why they were a leader. We linked our R.E learning into this thinking about the different leaders in religion, and thinking about the beliefs of others.  We finished off the module with our V.E Day event, where we thought about the different leaders during the War. We had lots of fun learning about Wojeck, the bear that went to war and were amazed that it was a true story!! We loved dressing up and having our adults in to hear our beautiful singing.
