Arts

A new term, a new unit and new art to explore!

Term 4 has started positively with some promising art on the horizon. Please take a look below for what we can expect from each year group between now and the end of term

Year 1

Year 1 pupils will be exploring collaging using both paper and natural materials. We will be using their design skills to plan a school garden, as well as to redesign the area outside their rooms.

Year 2

Year 2 pupils will be exploring exploration and flight. Through this lens they will be investigating different perspectives, particularly a birds-eye view. The children's focus for Design and Technology for this unit will be centred around paper planes and pupils will design, test and evaluate different types and designs.

Year 3

In Year 3, the children will be exploring forces and the impact these have on our lives. Through their learning of natural disasters, pupils will be making and testing their own volcanoes.

Year 4

In Year 4, the children will be exploring invasions through looking at the Roman Empire. Through art they will be investigating mosaics using ceramic tiles, and in Design and Technology children will be designing, creating and evaluating aqueducts.

Year 5

Year 5 pupils will be exploring art linked to traditional stories as well as designing, making and evaluating their own Bayeux tapestries.

Year 6 Forename

In Year 6, the children will be exploring watercolour painting based on propaganda art. They will also be looking at food and nutrition and spending some time cooking.
