Arts

A look at what's in store for Art this term:

Children in Reception classes will be inquiring into how great leaders affect our past, present and future. They will be using the works of Pablo Picasso to inspire some paintings as well as sculptures over the next few weeks.

Year 1 children will be inquiring into how people express their uniqueness through art. This module will be filled with opportunities to explore artists from the past and present, to use different artworks as inspiration for their own creations and to explore different art styles and mediums. They are looking forward to sharing their learning at the end of this module in the form of a mini museum.

Pupils in Year 2 will be inquiring into how plants rely on their environment to survive. They will be taking a closer look at flowers and refining their sketching skills by drawing the different parts that they observe. As part of Design and Technology, they will be designing and building a stand for tomatoes and runner beans.

Children in Year 3 will be inquiring into those who lived before us and how this can help us better understand our lives today.  They will explore different resources from the past, make their own papyrus and use what they know learnt to design and make an object that could be used to solve a problem from the past.

Year 4 pupils will be inquiring into perspectives and how they develop over time. They will apply this concept during their art session by drawing landscapes from different perspectives.

Year 5 children will be inquiring into how finding a resolution for conflict may lead to a better life. They will be creating landscape pictures from the Dover Castle experience as well as look at using their design skills to design a castle.

Pupils in Year 6 will be inquiring into how people's access to infrastructure influences their lives. They will be exploring the artist Zarina Hashmi and creating monoprints inspired by his artwork.
