What a busy term the children have had! They have all worked incredibly hard to be the best learners they can be. A huge well done also to the children that received their pen licences this term!
Line of Inquiry 1: An inquiry into the Different Emergency Services and Their Functions
The children learnt about different careers and how there are emergency and non-emergency jobs. They used 'pupil agency' to write a job description about their favourite job that they had undertaken research about.
Line of Inquiry 2: An Inquiry into the Events of the Great Fire of London
The children were truly mesmerized by the events that had happened in 1666. They were keen researchers and developed their questioning skills. Using their knowledge, they became authors and created their own version of the book 'Toby and the Great Fire of London'.
Line of Inquiry 3: An Inquiry into How the Great Fire of London Shaped Our Emergency Services
Through researching, the children discovered how the fire service has evolved over time. They were keen to use their creative skills to make their own pulleys and buckets, also using coiling to make clay buckets.
Texts that have supported our inquiries:
DT
The children learnt about the Great Fire of London in 1666 and wanted to design a mechanism to lift a bucket. They used the pulley system to make the bucket go up and down.
3D Artist - Alice Mara
We used the method of coiling to create our own buckets. This was incredibly tricky but the children didn't give up!
History
Year 2 children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a history workshop about the Great Fire of London. Pupils learnt about key events and reenacted key moments.
