At Landmark International School, our Physical Education (PE) programme is built on the values of inclusion, participation, and personal growth. We are proud to offer a high-quality, engaging, and inclusive PE curriculum that gives every student—regardless of age, ability, or gender—the opportunity to thrive in sport and physical activity.
We deliver a diverse and enriching range of practical activities designed to promote success, build confidence, and support students’ mental and physical well-being. Our PE curriculum not only fosters a love for sport but also develops vital life skills such as perseverance, determination, and communication. Powerhouse Games
Powerhouse Games is a dynamic, multi-team event celebrating inclusive and adapted sports. It’s all about participation, fun, and accessibility—designed for everyone to enjoy, regardless of age, ability, or sporting background. Whether students are sporty or not, Powerhouse Games ensures no one is left on the bench.
The aim of the event is simple but powerful: play sport together. Students from different schools, universities, sports clubs, and even co-operative groups come together to engage in a wide variety of inclusive sports. The event offers a chance to build friendships, break down barriers, and develop key social skills such as leadership, empathy, and teamwork.
Participants take part in a range of adapted sports including:
Sitting volleyball
New age curling
Visually impaired football
Boccia
Goalball
Sitting netball
Kwik Cricket
These activities are specially designed to be accessible and enjoyable for all, helping students understand the diverse challenges others face while discovering the importance of inclusion.
Powerhouse Games is not just about sports—it’s about community, growth, and having a great time. Every participant walks away with a medal, certificate, and a free t-shirt, but more importantly, they leave with lasting memories of friendship, fun, and inclusion.

"The powerhouse games are an all inclusive sporting event which happens every year and runs for lots of varying ages. When you arrive you will be separated into different groups, which is fun because you meet new people. Then you start to warm up by trying out the selection of sports that they have there, e.g. sitting netball, sitting volleyball. My favourite was bowls because it was fun as you could talk to other people whilst playing. Overall The Powerhouse Games was a 10/10 for being socially and physically active." Year 9 Student
All students at our school will take part in Core Physical Education (PE) as a vital part of their weekly timetable. Each student will have two hours of PE every week, delivered in a dedicated block on Tuesday afternoons.
We are very fortunate to hold our PE sessions at the University of Cambridge Sports Centre, located on Philippa Fawcett Drive. This outstanding venue provides access to first-class facilities and expert coaching, offering our students a truly enriching and inspiring sports curriculum.
Throughout the academic year, students will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of sports and physical activities, including:
Football
Eton Fives
Basketball
Badminton
Pickleball
Squash
Table Tennis
Gym sessions
Hiking (Year 10 only)
To enhance their experience, we work with specialist coaches across several disciplines. Students benefit from expert coaching in Table Tennis, delivered by Paragon Table Tennis, and from high-level instruction in Squash, Pickleball, and Eton Fives, led by James Powley, Head Coach of Squash and Fives at University Sport. Throughout the year, students benefit from working with expert coaches and specialists, gaining insight and training from professionals across multiple disciplines. This expert input enhances the quality of their learning and exposes them to potential pathways in sport beyond school. This partnership with the University of Cambridge Sport ensures that our students not only enjoy their PE lessons but also develop a lifelong appreciation for health, fitness, and the value of physical activity.
Our Key Stage 4 PE curriculum builds on the strong foundations laid in Key Stage 3. Students continue to develop their skills in previously studied sports, both practically and through a deeper understanding of rules, tactics, and strategies. They will also be introduced to a wider variety of new sports designed to spark interest, provide challenge, and promote lifelong engagement with physical activity.
Our Key Stage 4 PE curriculum focuses on three core themes:
Lifelong Activity
Preparing students for a healthy, active lifestyle beyond school, equipping them with the skills and confidence to continue sport and exercise throughout their lives.
Enjoyment and Social Development
Encouraging a positive experience of sport through fun, teamwork, and social interaction. Students develop relationships, communication, and collaboration through shared physical challenges.
Health and Wellbeing
Promoting physical, mental, and social wellbeing. PE provides students with tools to manage stress, maintain fitness, and support a healthy lifestyle.
Beyond Physical Skills
A key focus in Key Stage 4 is on the holistic development of the student. PE plays a vital role in:
Building confidence and self-esteem
Enhancing communication and interpersonal skills
Developing leadership and teamwork abilities
Fostering resilience and a growth mindset
Understanding the importance of maintaining fitness to meet the demands of daily life
Our aim is to help students become well-rounded, healthy individuals—physically, socially, and emotionally prepared for the challenges of further education, employment, and adult life.
