In September, we are taking moment to honor and celebrate Hispanic Heritage as a way to recognize the contributions and influences that all Hispanic, Latina, Latino & Latinx, Afro-Latino, Afro-Latina individuals have made to the United States over many years. Hispanic Heritage is a celebration of every family that has immigrated from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central & South America to the United States in hopes of achieving the American Dream, and paving the way for future generations. Oftentimes, reaching the American Dream has meant sacrificing oneself in effort to provide for the family, but all done with much love. The words Hispanic, Latino, and Latina are often used interchangeably, however, the term "Hispanic," is mostly identifiable for those that speak Spanish or are from Spanish origin. Latino, Latina, Latinx, is preferred mostly by individuals from Latin America, as not all speak the Spanish Language, such as Brazil & Haiti. Hispanic, Latino, Latina, Latinx, Afro-Latino, Afro-Latina culture is rich in family, festivities, food, traditions and music.
