Next week, our students will have a chance to register to vote during the school day. The best way to make your voice heard on important issues is to vote for them. McCaskey is hoping to be the first high school in Lancaster County to earn the Governor’s Civic Engagement Award. To help with this, voter registration will occur on January 21st and 22nd in both cafeterias during lunch periods. To be eligible, you need to be 18 years old before the next election on May 19th. And, you need to have been a U.S. citizen and a P.A. resident for at least one month. In order to register, you just need to bring your driver’s license or state-issued I.D. or, if you don’t have that, the last four digits of your social security number will work instead. Additionally, everyone who registers to vote on these days will be entered into a drawing to win a free prom ticket. If you already registered, just show proof of that with a screenshot in order to be entered into the raffle.
Conferences are coming up again in just a few weeks! This is such a great way for your home family and your school family to connect. Encourage your caregiver to come in and meet with your teachers so that everyone can work together to help you be successful. Conferences will be held on February 5th from 3:30-7pm and on February 6th from 8am-noon.
Our Extended Day Program is back! This is a great time to lock in and get those grades up before the end of the marking period. You can stay after school to get academic help on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. There are tutors ready to help you in various subjects. Join them in either I.M.C. from 3:15-4:30pm.
We all know that when you miss school, you miss out. McCaskey has a lot to offer, but you can’t take advantage of it if you’re not here. So, make sure you continue to prioritize being in school on time every day.
McCaskey’s Peer Mediation Program is here to provide peaceful problem-solving. Peer mediators can help with issues on social media, relationships that are dissolving, minor bullying, and personal confrontations. Staff and students can request a mediation by clicking here. A peer mediator will then reach out to schedule a meeting during period 2, 6/7, or 8 in the Mediation and Restorative Conference center in the East I.M.C.
So many incredible things happen at McCaskey everyday! From academics to arts to activities to athletics and more, there is so much to do and see! Follow @McCaskeyHighSchool on Instagram, Facebook, and X to stay connected and see how you can get involved next!
