Prerequisite: Completion of Firefighter I
Firefighter II is an advanced-level course that builds on foundational firefighting skills and knowledge acquired in Firefighter I. Students will develop and demonstrate competency in fire ground operations, rescue techniques, incident command, and hazardous materials response at the Awareness and Operations levels. This course follows NFPA 1001 and NFPA 472/1072 standards and prepares students for State Firefighter Certification and Hazmat Awareness and Operations Certification through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) or other recognized bodies.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
Demonstrate advanced structural firefighting techniques and strategies.
Operate fire apparatus and tools safely and efficiently.
Understand and apply incident command system (ICS) principles.
Conduct search and rescue operations, including victim stabilization and evacuation.
Recognize and respond to hazardous materials incidents at the awareness and operations levels.
Prepare for written and practical skills testing for Firefighter II and Hazmat certifications.

Certification Readiness: Students must meet attendance, skills, and academic benchmarks to test for state certification.
