Find the locations of the restroom, staff room, cafeteria and any other pertinent areas
Meet the neighboring teachers
Enter the classroom with confidence
Read through the lesson plans
Study the seating chart
Stand in the doorway to greet students

Before Students Leave
Gather supplies and materials before the students leave the room
Challenge students to recall what they learned before they leave
Remind students of any homework assignments that were given
Enlist students to help straighten and cleanup the area around their desks
After Students Leave
Leave a note for the classroom teacher about how the day went
Include your contact information for any questions or if you want to substitute again in the classroom
Leave the teacher's desk and assignments neatly organized
Check out with office and make sure your timesheet has been completed
