Keep notes and assignments in order of the subject and date. That way you will save time (because you’ll be able to find what you need easily), you won’t miss something important, and you can review it later.
Take notes in class or when you are reading, so you can review the information later. Try to write down the key points in your own words, and note anything that you are confused about so you can ask about it or look it up later.
When you are reading or preparing for a test, make an outline of the key facts. Under each heading write the main facts or procedures, and an example if needed. (Most textbooks are organized in this way.)
Don’t leave everything until the last day and then try to do everything at once—get started early and work on it every day. Make sure you give yourself enough time for challenging tasks. It’s not realistic to expect to read 10 pages of a math book in 10 minutes! For big assignments, plan ahead.
When you have a big challenge, sometimes you need to work overtime at the end even if you have been studying all along—like when you run a marathon race, you keep a steady pace and then give it all you’ve got at the end.
