Career Services

All eighth graders enroll in Career Orientation, a one semester course. The students study the nationally recognized 16 career clusters, engage in hands-on career games and activities, and are introduced to ACT's World of Work Map. Career interest inventories, learning styles inventories and other computerized assessments are part of the curriculum. Classroom speakers from a variety of areas share skills and educational requirements for their respective occupations Eighth graders are introduced to a computerized career guidance system, as well as to Internet resources that provide career and educational information. Students become familiar with graduation requirements and create 4 year plans that ensure they are on track for graduation. In Career Orientation, students have the opportunity to establish an on-line career portfolio that compiles career and educational goals, plans and experiences and that is accessible to them for life.
