2593 Accounting I  1 credit

Accounting I is designed to present the introductory phases of accounting for a sole-

proprietorship and Corporations. Preparation and interpretation of accounting journals, ledgers

and financial statements are stressed. Units on payroll, state and federal taxes and reconciling

bank statements are introduced to aid the students in utilizing accounting in their personal lives.

2594 Accounting II  1 credit

Accounting II is based on the fundamentals of Accounting I - the procedures and systems

necessary to record transactions and to prepare reports such as the balance sheet and income

statement. This course will give students a strong foundation in advanced accounting theory and

procedures. An in-depth approach to inventory and asset valuation will be explored as well as the

recording of complex business transactions relating to publicly held corporations.

Prerequisite: Accounting I Suggested grade levels: 12


2603 Personal Finance  ½ credit

Personal Finance is a course designed to help students understand the impact of individual

choices on occupational goals and future earnings potential. Topics covered will include

income, money management, spending and credit, as well as saving and investing. Students will

design personal and household budgets, simulate use of checking and savings accounts,

demonstrate knowledge of finance, debt, and credit management, and evaluate and understand

insurance and taxes. This course will provide a foundational understanding for making informed

personal financial decisions.

6430 Sports/Entertainment Marketing ½ credit

Sports and Entertainment Marketing is a unique and innovative course designed for students with

an interest in the sports and entertainment industry. This course stress the utilization of

fundamental marketing concepts and will include an orientation to the sports and entertainment

industry. Marketing strategies along with topics sponsorship, pricing, market research,

endorsement, and promotion will be part of the course.

6440 Sports Information and Public Relations ½ credit

This course is designed to allow the learner to use the computer to develop a media guide, write

basic press releases, fact sheets, and press kits. Use methodology common to Sports Information

Director’s position to plan a contest, beginning with the pre-event, the event itself, and the post

event. Control a press conference, report news and work with appropriate personnel. Use social

media and the internet for sports information. Recognize the importance of public relations in the

world of sports management. The intent of this course is to provide students with real life

applications through the cooperation with the Lake Region Athletic Department.

6450 Business Management ½ credit

Management is a course that will provide a solid foundation of established business principles

and practices that form the groundwork of all business operations. Business fundamentals such

as planning, organizing, directing and evaluating business functions essential to efficient and

productive business operations economic, legal, and social foundations are represented along with

a close look at organizing businesses, marketing products and services, financing operations, and

human resources.

6460 Entrepreneurship ½ credit

This course introduces students to the principles of entrepreneurship and business ethics as they

examine all the major steps involved in starting a new business, including the marketing,

financing, managing, and legal aspects. Students will develop a business plan and learn what is

required to get an entrepreneurial venture off to a good start. Using real-life examples to which

students can relate, topics that are covered include market research, budgeting, selecting a

business location, and financing the business venture.
