Employability Skills Program recognizes a student’s mastery of employability skills valued by employers in a variety of worksite settings while helping students explore career interests. Juniors and seniors may participate in the program.
The program requires:
Reinforcing professional workplace skills in personal work habits and attitudes
A minimum of 70 work hours accumulated over the course of a trimester
Paid wages (unpaid positions with small non-profit or educational organizations may be considered)
Completion of assignments relating to career development assigned by the supervising teacher
Completion of skills checklist as determined by your employer and work-based learning coordinator
Students work with approved employers during the school year and may be able to dedicate one class period (either hours 1 or 5) hour to their employment. If a student has an academic enhancement period during hours 2 or 4 (next to their WBL hour), this may be combined for additional time for employment if approved by LUHS. It is not required to leave school for work to participate in work-based learning.
