What is Global Math Week?
Global Math week is a creative and inquiry driven exploration through mathematics. The Global Math Project provides you with a whole station of lessons. Teachers can either follow the strand from start to finish, or they can pick the lesson most suitable for their learners. This years, Global Math Week's topic was exploring dots.
Why is it important?
Global Math Week is simply such a fun way to get students excited about learning math. Math can be very overwhelming for some learners and making it fun is a great way to promote a growth mindset in each student! It is also incredible to be able to share successes globally and for students to learn together using social media in a positive way!
How can I get involved?
Simply sign up on The Global Math Project website! Pick the lessons most suitable for you and be ready when Global Math Week arrives!

Global Math Week & Me
In a classroom of my own, I will make sure to take advantage of the amazing opportunity of Global Math Week. What a treat to offer students!
Who: Teachers and students Globally
What: Fun Math
When: Annually
Where: Online (Twitter)
Why: Encourage curiosity and foster a growth mindset in Mathematics
How: You!
Global Math Week is an amazing opportunity for any teacher to make math meaningful and fun! Global Math Week connects students globally and encourages a growth mindset in a subject that is hard for many. For me personally, Math never came naturally to me and I struggled with it for a very long time! Math was taught to me one way, and if I did not follow those steps, I was wrong. By the time I got to high school, I was so far behind that I grasped on to any concept I could generally understand, but I never truly did.
Math was frustrating, overwhelming, discouraging.
Math should be fun, interesting and exciting!
Global Math week gives us that opportunity as educators to think outside of the box. To experiment, to spark inquiry, and to get your classroom excited to learn! Global Math Week gives children the chance to build a growth mindset in math, and it is a great start towards developing grit when math gets tricky!
