Tests
During April, we had some Illuminate tests during Student Support to see where everyone is and whether or not some kids need to go to summer school to catch up. Now let's get our Jolly Ranchers ready it's time for...SBAC. This will be held during Student Support, but now your cameras must be on. Your Student Support teacher will help you get on, but remember, the SBAC test is taken on a Chromebook, so be ready to use it. The ELA test was on May 5th from 8:45 am to 12:15 pm, and the Math test was on May 12th from 8:45 am to 11:30 am. 8th graders will also have a Science SBAC test which will be on May 19th from 8:45 am to 11:45 am. There will be two different types of tests for each subject the CAT and the PT (Performance Test). Make sure to do the CAT Test first, and then the Performance Test! As you might have noticed these meetings will be going for quite a while so make sure to get up early and eat a good breakfast! In addition, most teachers won’t be assigning as much Wednesday work, as usual, you might simply get an assignment saying “Get up on time and eat a good breakfast!” Please remember that these tests will NOT affect your grade, and do your best!
Graduation and end of the school year!
Get ready for SUMMER!! The end of school is drawing near so this is the final stretch. Our last day of school will be Thursday, May 27th, and we will have early dismissal this day so there may be a little bit of a mix-up in our schedule. (Listen out for more details about this during Student Support.) This also means graduation is coming up, this is bittersweet because it means that our awesome 8th graders will be leaving Stanley and going onto High School. A few select people have been chosen to speak a recorded speech for the Graduation Zoom for our 8th Graders. This Zoom will be on the last day of school (May 27th), be sure to join that zoom 8th graders! There will also be an event for 8th-grade graduation going on in person on May 27th at well! At 5:00 8th Graders and their families will arrive at Stanley. The 8th Graders will get out of the car with their masks on, and their families will stay in the car. Then there will be a short little ceremony to say goodbye. Make sure to listen out for more details and good luck in High School guys!
Next school year!
Hey Wildcats, I have some good news for you! Stanley and the High Schools in Lafayette are planning to go back in person full-time (or at least five days a week maybe not all of the school day) next year! There will most likely be a distance learning option, but hopefully, by then most kids our age will be vaccinated and the cases will be quite low, so there'll be no need to worry about that! Most of the decisions will be made closer to the time so no promises. But we can only do this if everyone keeps wearing a mask and stays 6 (or 3) feet apart! But for now, enjoy your summer!
Make sure to listen out for more details on the events above in Student Support!
Hope to see you next year and GOOO WILDCATS!!
