Captain's Information

All seniors and juniors that have completed 2 years of XC service are eligible to apply to be a captain of the Ladue Girls XC team provided you meet and agree to abide by the criteria listed in below. Team captains will be evaluated during the summer and will be announced prior to the beginning of the season. Your physical talent should not be a factor in your choosing to become a captain. Violations of this contract during the season will result in a loss (temporary or permanent) of captain’s privileges. The following are just some of the expectations if you choose to be a captain:

Captains’ Duties

  • Complete the online captain's course prior to the first official day of practice.
  • Maintain a 3.0 GPA.
  • Lead by example in practice, at school and at the meet.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and inspiration to all team members.
  • Demonstrate a diligent work ethic.
  • Complete commitment to following the school rules and team expectations.
  • Attend a majority of summer practices.
  • Have no unexcused absences during the season.
  • Attend all scheduled meets, whether racing or not.
  • Serve, when necessary, as a liaison between individual team members or between team members and the coaching staff.
  • Plan, organize, and execute various team functions.
  • Organize and lead all pre and post practice and race day activities.
  • Share with other team members your knowledge of the rules, spirit, principles, and strategies of cross-country competition.
  • Always maintain a positive attitude.
  • Recognize and respect the individuality of each team member regardless of ability or level with the express purpose of making each team member genuinely feel of equal importance with each and every other team member.
  • Model and champion excellence in all phases of the total high school experience.
