What is Resource Class?


Purpose:

  • To build a smaller learning community within Central

  • To establish positive and mutually respectful relationships with students

  • To monitor academic and social emotional progress and growth of students

  • To reduce the number of families that teachers need to connect with on a regular basis

  • To provide a time for students to engage in academic and career planning (ACP), social emotional learning (SEL), and academic progress monitoring


Teacher Expectations

  • Provide a structured environment for students that improves their connection to school

  • Facilitate School Connect SEL, and ACP lessons

  • Monitor grades and attendance of students in resource

  • Communicate regularly with resource students’ families about progress

  • Communicate with students’ teachers about ways to support their academic success

  • Provide opportunities and support for students to stay on track academically


Student Expectations

  • To attend, on time, every day

  • To participate in all resource activities

  • To use the time to work on homework, get organized, to study, to check in with teachers

  • To follow cell phone policy and other school expectations
