There is little doubt that technology has invaded almost every aspect of our lives. The technology education curriculum is an action based program for all students, both college bound and those ready for the world of work. Students learn how to develop, produce, use and assess the impacts of products and services that extend the human potential to improve and control the natural and human-made environment. Courses focus on technological knowledge and competence and are designed to help students understand and to participate in the technological society of today and tomorrow.
Students have many course choices as they plan their high school career. The faculty of the Technology Education Department works to attract students to the program who will benefit most from the curriculum.
Advantages to taking PLTW and technology education courses include:
All students may earn college credit upon completion of PLTW courses.
Design & Drawing for Production (DDP) satisfies the Arts requirement. All students may take DDP without being obligated to take further Technology Education or PLTW courses.
PLTW POE may be used as a substitute for a third unit of science credit.
PLTW DE and Computer Networking I may be used as a substitute for a third unit of mathematics credit.
Regents Advanced Designation – A five unit sequence in Technology Education can be used to satisfy the three credit foreign language requirement.
