As we transition to the new state legislation to reduce distractions, improve focus, promote student well-being, and create a more conducive learning environment, our KenTon Secondary Summer School implementation includes:
Students will store their powered down electronic devices in their school bag or the phone caddy located in each classroom for the duration of the entire block of instruction: 8:00-10:03 am, 10:13-12:16 pm, and 12:30-2:00 pm.
a. Students may pick up their phones at the end of each block of instruction.
b. Electronic devices should remain powered down in the restrooms, hallways, etc.
c. Students may turn on devices after they leave the building.
Students who need to make an emergency phone call during the instructional block will receive a pass from their teacher to come to the main office to utilize our dedicated student phone line.
Families needing to get in touch with a student for emergency purposes should call the Summer School Office directly at 716.871.2082. Students will be able to check their own messages at the end of their summer school day.
Exceptions:
A. Healthcare Needs - As required for tracking health conditions or medical purposes outside of the classroom as per doctor’s orders on file in Nurse’s office (example: Diabetes monitoring)
B. Translation Services - As necessary for English Language Learners
C. Administrative permission- while in the summer school office under adult supervision
