Students will be given a locker to use in the 2023-2024 school year. It is expected that you store your materials, backpacks, lunches, etc. in this space provided and secure your locker with a combination lock. Backpacks were allowed in previous years due to COVID restrictions, but for safety reasons will no longer be allowed in classrooms in the 2023-2024 school year.
Here are a few helpful resources that can help you learn how to use a standard combination lock. We do suggest that you use a 3 number combination lock (like the ones shown in the pictures. Other lock designs that are sold in stores seem like they may be easier to use, but we have found that they often end up causing problems for students in the long run.
All students will need a lock for their hallway locker (must be able to be opened using a combination, no keyed locks please). Hallway locks can be purchased from the school (see below) or purchased on your own.
Students who have a PE class on their schedule must also have a lock for their gym locker. PE locks must be purchased from school or can borrowed from the PE department (as it is necessary for locks to have emergency key access in quick change situations).
Our DHMS office does sell high quality Master Lock brand combination locks for a low cost - you have 2 options for what you could choose to purchase:
1 combination lock for $8.00
2 combination locks with matching combinations for $13.00 - this would allow you to only have to memorize 1 combination for both your hallway and PE lockers.
