ʻŌpae (general term for native shrimp and prawn species) function as detritivores in our loko iʻa as adults and potentially as an important food source for juvenile fish in their larval stages. Our research seeks to better understand the spatial distribution, environmental conditions, and life cycles of these understudied and often overlooked organisms within our loko iʻa. Links below will take you to ArcGIS Storymaps of student research on the topic.
