What is Canvas?
Canvas is the Online Learning Management System Kamehameha Schools will be using.
Canvas is a(n):
Engaging framework with interactive tools, that facilitates blended & personalized learning.
Online system that bundles assignments, course content, assessments, scores, learning data, and more.
*INFINITE CAMPUS will be the place for students and parents to check for course grades. Canvas grades show scores of completed assignments within Canvas only.
Direct communication is possible between your child's kumu, your child and you, using the Parent/Guardian Observer Inbox Messaging system.
Easy to use platform for parents and students to use & find course information in ONE PLACE.
What can ʻOhana do in Canvas? Create an Observer Account!
A Parent/Guardian can be an OBSERVER in Canvas.
Canvas Observers are able to view:
Course home page (all classes)
Announcements (all classes)
Syllabus (all classes)
Calendar (all classes)
Inbox for communication with kumu & keiki (all classes)
Assignments*
Scores for Canvas assignments only.
*All course grades can be found in Infinite Campus.

Please review and complete this Canvas LMS ʻOhana Training to learn about Canvas and set up your Parent/Guardian Observer Account to pair with your child's Canvas account.
Where do I find my child's pairing code?
This would be found in your child's Canvas account.

Parent Observer Notifications
Once you have created your parent observer account, you can receive your own notifications for your child's Canvas courses.
Under Account Notifications you will select which notifications you would like to receive and when.

Once you have created your parent observer account, you can send and receive messages to and from your child's kumu via the Inbox Tool or via Email.

We have set up a TEMPORARY ʻOhana Tech Help Desk to provide kōkua to Parents & Guardians for the start of the school year.
This is a TEMPORARY 'Ohana Tech Help Desk for ʻOhana (Parents and Guardians) to receive kōkua for Canvas, Infinite Campus, Seesaw, Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Haumāna Canvas Training
Students are currently working on their Canvas Training called "Mākaʻikaʻi Through Canvas"
This student course provides an introduction to key functions of Canvas to:
Keep track of the work they are assigned by their kumu
Organize their course learning material
View any kumu feedback
Stay in touch with kumu and classmates
Through the course, students also learn interesting information about Pauahiʻs and Bishopʻs travels throughout Europe in each of the nine learning modules. A short quiz to check for understanding is included at the end of each module.
