Kaʻiwahoʻokelewaʻa

Class of 2025

'AHA KAPA INOA

KAʻIWAHOʻOKELEWAʻA

the ‘Iwa bird that guides the canoe towards its destination.

It speaks to the level of care that the students have for each other to reach their destination throughout their years at the HS. There is reference of the ‘Iwa bird to Pauahi herself and her care and aloha to support and help.

There is also a Kolohe-ness of the ‘Iwa bird in a playful manner.

Ho’okele refers to the guiding factor of the canoe. If well supported – a child is able to move progressively forward.

Dear Juniors and Seniors of Kamehameha Schools Hawai’i,

Welcome to the new school year!  This is an election year, thus, the ASKS Executive Board of Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi is sending a kāhea to Kaʻiwahoʻokelewaʻa and Kaʻiolanokaʻawa to engage in three civic opportunities.

Interested individuals will participate in registering to be a voter, sign waving on August 9th along Kamehameha Avenue with other schools, and sign waving again on October 22nd. You must be 16+ to register but only able to vote if 18+.

To save your spot and to hold a sign on August 9th and October 22nd, please complete and return this voter registration form to our Student Life Center. Personal information on forms received will be safeguarded.

In closing, be civically engaged as `ōiwi, `ōpio, or first-time registered voters. Let’s stand together and wave signs “Vote! It’s Our Kuleana!” and “I Registered To Vote!”.

Mahalo a I mua Kamehameha,
