Refugee by Alan Gratz

Although Refugee is fictional, the circumstances surrounding each of the protagonists is based on historical facts. You will be researching the political, cultural, and historic events around three different timeframes: Germany in 1938-39 leading up to WWII, Cuba in 1994, and Syria in 2015. You have chosen one character/situation to follow, and you will need to research and present background information to explain why people became refugees during that time.
