Earth and space science (ESS) is an interdisciplinary field that encompasses the study of Earth, its atmosphere, oceans,
and life, as well as the broader universe, including other
planets and celestial bodies.
It integrates various scientific disciplines like geology,
astronomy, and paleontology to understand Earth's systems,
their interactions, and their place in the cosmos.
ESS provides a framework for understanding the
interconnectedness of Earth's systems and their
relationship to the larger universe, including the
impacts of human activity on these systems.
What is Astronomy?
Stars, Comets, and Asteroids, OH MY! Get your telescopes ready because in this class we will be blasting off into space and taking a look at the processes of stars, the universe, and life beyond Earth.
What is Geology?
Geology is the Study of Earth's materials, structures, and processes. In this class, we will be taking a look at how our planet works, in both the present and in past history. We will be studying different materials on Earth, including soil, water, rock formation, volcanoes, earthquakes, and plate tectonics. We will also be making waves as we dive deep to take a look at the ocean floor, also called marine geology or geological oceanography.
What is Paleontology?
Have you ever questioned what creatures walked this earth well before humans? Do you love dinosaurs? Do you want to learn about dinosaurs and prehistoric times? - Or do you feel it's all bologna? In this course, we will be studying the evolution of our planet and the creatures that roamed our earth, much before humans. Let’s discuss, debate, learn, and create!
