Application Status
To better understand the application review process from the viewpoint of the MERIT Leadership Team, please read this reflective blog post from a past MERIT program director.
Waitlist Status
If you were placed on the waitlist, please understand...
With so many more impressive applications than there are spots available, we want you to know that having made the waiting list is significant. For every applicant that is accepted in the program, there is another equally qualified candidate not accepted or placed on the waitlist. We will make final selections from the waitlist before March 15. We understand that you may need to make other plans before that date, just let us know.
We know you want to know more, but one thing we can say is that we don't have you locked into a "position" on the waiting list. The work to balancing the cohort by subject matter, grade levels taught, and school district means that your potential entry in the program is not ranked by objective scoring criteria alone. We consider more than just the score of the application or your edtech expertise when building a cohesive, learning-focused MERIT cohort. In the event that you are not placed into an open slot for MERIT, we hope you will still consider taking advantage of the many fine courses offered at the Krause Center for Innovation. We also encourage you to apply again for next year's cohort, and you will get added bonuses on your application for having applied this year and for participating in KCI classes or programs.
Not Accepted Status
We regret that not all applications are accepted for the MERIT program. Every application is carefully reviewed by a team of instructional leaders and we perceive you are a gifted and talented teacher, a valuable resource to your school community, and we sincerely wish our program had enough space for you with all the applicants. We believe your application to MERIT indicates you are someone who is willing to pursue challenging opportunities in educational professional development, which conveys to us you are someone the Krause Center for Innovation would like to get to know better.
We hope you will still consider taking advantage of the many edtech courses and programs offered at the Krause Center for Innovation (http://krauseinnovationcenter.org). Our leadership team highly encourages you to apply again for next year's cohort, and having completed a KCI class or program adds points to your application score.
The KCI and MERIT Leadership Team wishes you, your students, and your colleagues the best and hope to see you at the KCI in the future. If you have other questions about the MERIT application process, please contact Elizabeth Brumbaugh.
