Introducing Our New Literacy Program: Words Their Way & UFLI Integration
This year, we're excited to introduce a comprehensive literacy program that combines the "Words Their Way" sorting program with elements from the "University of Florida Literacy Institute" (UFLI) program. This integration is designed to enhance your child's reading and spelling skills.
Words Their Way focuses on word study through sorting activities, helping students understand patterns in words and improve their spelling. UFLI provides structured phonics instruction, emphasizing the relationship between sounds and letters. By combining these two approaches, we aim to provide a well-rounded literacy experience that supports both phonemic awareness and word recognition.
Students will engage in hands-on sorting activities to categorize words by sounds, patterns, and meanings. These activities will be complemented by targeted phonics lessons from UFLI, reinforcing the sound-to-letter connections and expanding their vocabulary. This program is tailored to meet each student's individual needs, ensuring that all children develop strong foundational literacy skills in an engaging and supportive environment.
