Parts of a Letter
Writing a letter is a great way to communicate with others. Here are the main parts of a letter, explained simply for Grade 3 students:
1. Heading
The heading is at the top of the letter and includes the date. Sometimes, people also put their address in the heading.
Example:

2. Greeting
The greeting is how you say hello to the person you are writing to. It usually starts with "Dear" followed by the person's name. Don't forget to use a comma after the name!
Example:

Dear Grandma,
3. Body
The body of the letter is the main part where you write your message. This is where you tell the person why you are writing. You can share news, ask questions, or tell stories.
Example:

I hope you are doing well! I wanted to tell you about the new playground at our school. It's so much fun! My favorite part is the big slide. I've also made new friends there. How is your garden doing? I miss you and can't wait to visit you soon.
4. Closing
The closing is how you end the letter. It's a short phrase that shows you are finishing up. Common closings include "Sincerely," "Love," "Your friend," or "Best wishes." Always add a comma after the closing.
Example:
Love,
5. Signature
The signature is where you sign your name at the end of the letter. This tells the person who wrote the letter.
Example:
Chris
