In this session, participants will see high performing teachers effectively using management techniques which include: Clear Directions, Narrate the Positive, Redirection, Be Positive. Participants will also gain a brief overview of techniques including: Least to Most Invasive Management Strategies, What to do Directions, Precise Praise, and the differences between management and discipline.
Megan Dills: Talent Coach
Megan joined the CfUT team as a Talent Coach in 2021. Megan’s connection to CfUT began in the Summer of 2014 as an undergraduate and where she completed three summers as a summer school teacher in the program. During college, she also worked for three years as a teaching assistant for LUMIN Schools. After completing her degree at Concordia University Wisconsin, she taught at Northwest Lutheran School and then at St. Marcus Lutheran School. During her time at St. Marcus, she began the Leadership program through the CfUT and served three summers as a summer school principal. Megan completed her Master's in Leadership and Innovation through Wisconsin Lutheran College in 2022. When she is not coaching teachers, she enjoys spending time with her husband James and their three children.
Portia Diggs: Talent Recruiter and Developer
Portia joined the CfUT team as a Talent Recruiter and Developer in 2021.Prior to joining the CfUt team and family, Portia received her degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice, with the intention of being a probation officer for youth. After deciding to be proactive rather than reactive, she entered the education field, and began her journey with CfUT in the summer of 2016 and participated as a teacher in the summer school program for three summers. Since then, Portia has served as a K5 teacher and most recently as a Dean of Culture at Milwaukee College Prep. During her tenure as a teacher she was named Teacher of the Year in 2014 and 2020. In the midst of teaching she also spent five years as a creative director/ dance coach as well. Portia has also served as summer school leader, and in 2022, she received her Masters in Leadership and Innovation from Wisconsin Lutheran College. When she is not recruiting teachers, Portia enjoys spending time with her husband Quentin and their two boys.
