Language is powerful and can be used as a tool to inspire student compliance. This session focuses on how to use effective and precise praise in order to help encourage students to achieve their full potential.
Amanda Rusch: Talent Coach
Amanda joined the CfUT team as a Talent Coach in 2021. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a B.A. in Spanish and Education and graduated in 2022 with an M.A. in Leadership and Innovation from Wisconsin Lutheran College, in partnership with the Center for Urban Teaching.
Prior to joining CfUT, Amanda served students in Milwaukee for seven years at St. Margaret Mary School, St. Gregory the Great School, HOPE Christian School Fortis, and Mother of Good Counsel School, primarily as a K-8th grade Spanish teacher. She also taught middle school Religion and Writing, served as a school librarian, and served on Learning and Instructional Support teams. Outside of her work at CfUT, Amanda enjoys spending time with her husband John and their daughter Riley.
Rachel Schultz: Talent Coach
Rachel Schultz joined the CfUT team as a participant in 2007 while attending Wisconsin Lutheran College for her B. A. in Early Childhood Education. As an undergraduate, she taught summer school at St. Marcus in Milwaukee. Rachel officially joined the CfUT team in January 2017 as a Talent coach.
Prior to joining CfUT, Rachel served for six years as a teacher at Atonement Lutheran School in Milwaukee teaching primarily English Language Arts. At Atonement, Rachel worked with the team to turn the middle school culture around and build a standard aligned reading curriculum. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Dan and their three children.
